The President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been enskined as the Developmental Chief of Wa in the Upper West Region. The ceremony took place today in the Palace of Wa Naa Fuseini Pelpuo.

His traditional name that goes with the skin (position) is Jen Jeng Naa Sung Maale. “Jen Jeng” is a famous crocodile pond in Wa while “Sung Maale” means development in the Waale language.

Mr. Nyantakyi’s father hails from Kwasu in the Ashanti Region while his mother is a native of Wa. He was born and bred in Wa and speaks impeccable Waale. He attended school in Wa.

Mr. Nyantakyi, who is also an Executive Member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is the founder and owner of the Wa All Stars Football Club, the only representatives of Northern Ghana in the Ghana Premier League. This, among other development oriented initiatives, is what earned him the praise and admiration of the custodians of the Wa Traditional Council leading to the conferment of the chieftaincy title on him.
