An Accra circuit court has sentenced a senior medical officer of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Takoradi, Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass, to 25 years imprisonment.

Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass was arrested in October 2014 following an investigation by Joy FM’s Manasseh Azure Awuni, which revealed he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a sixteen year old senior high school boy. The boy said he was fifteen years they first had sex.

The boy alleged that apart from the first sexual intercourse, he was forced in the other four encounters. Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass was arrested and charged with defilement.

When Manasseh Azure Awuni confronted Dr. Ali-Gabass after gathering substantial evidence that he had a relationship with the boy, he confessed having sex with the boy.

“We are considering appeal….we are going to ask for the record of proceedings and go to a higher court which will have to look at the evidence all over again and see whether he merits 25 years”, the lawyer Phixon Owool told Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh Nuamah.
