An Accra circuit court has sentenced a senior medical officer of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Takoradi, Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass, to 25 years imprisonment.

Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass was arrested in October 2014 following an investigation by Joy FM’s Manasseh Azure Awuni, which revealed he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a sixteen year old senior high school boy. The boy said he was fifteen years when they first had sex.

The boy alleged that apart from the first sexual intercourse, he was forced in the other four encounters. Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass was arrested and charged with defilement.

When Manasseh Azure Awuni confronted Dr. Ali-Gabass after gathering substantial evidence that he had a relationship with the boy, he confessed having sex with the boy.

“You know, with this sexual thing, you know, for some of us, we are trying our best. You know, it’s like being born with it. That urge is there,” he said.

“It was in my car. He actually … I was going to Accra. He says the … he will meet me. In fact, I was so this thing because he said he was doing science so, in fact, it was through this that I … this guy was so sexually this thing,” he explained after admitting that he met the boy on Facebook.
